Stitching for women 29 December 2011
Only contains patterns and their descriptions, the photo shows some examples of what you can do with them. The proceeds of this pattern will benefit the Foundation “Stitching for Women”.
Who are we?
The origin.
Foundation "Stitching for Women" was founded in the autumn of 2006. We noticed that in the Netherlands there is still far too little attention to ovarian cancer. Every year about 1,100 of women in the Netherlands are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, 900 women per year die from this form of cancer.
Given the above, and because of requests by the target group, we decided to fill this gap. By naming the Foundation "Stitching for Women" we wish to convey that we commit ourselves to the above mentioned target group by doing needlework.
By combining the internationally renowned Teal Ribbon (the awareness symbol for this type of cancer) with the needle and thread in our logo and corporate identity we put in a clear but subtle link.
Foundation "Stitching for Women" receives no government funding and we do not recruit donors. All activities are conducted on a voluntary basis by the board.
What is our goal?
Foundation "Stitching for Women" is primarily intended to raise funds for scientific research into the cause of ovarian cancer.
The survival rate in ovarian cancer patients is alarmingly low. Ovarian cancer is often discovered too late. There is a reason it is called "the silent lady killer". This is because the disease is characterized by vague symptoms.
All funds we raise are donated annually to the department of gynecologic oncology at the AMC in Amsterdam. The sum of the annual donation is directly transferred to the account of the relevant department, so we know that the money is being used for the research which we strive for.
Hope you will support the foundation by embroidering these patterns,
Kind regards,
Nolda van Hezewijk

Arcade 25 October 2011
We are back from our holiday and used to the struggle of live again.
The new pattern is ready.
Again it is a art nouveau pattern, but I still have fun making them.
I will try to make two more in the future , but than there is no more work of Albert Smits left and it is time for something different.
But don’t worry ideas enough.
For now have fun whit this pattern.
Regards,
Nolda

Holiday 29 August 2011
It is time to enjoy our second holiday this year.
During the summer holiday there was a lot of rain in our country, so we hoop it will be better next month.
This time by boat we want to discover north and perhaps south Holland ( they are provinces of the Netherlands )
Enjoy calming down and of course embroidering, otherwise what is a holiday for.
On the 28 of September we will be back.
Keep on embroidering.
Kind regards,
Nolda van Hezewijk

Again Art nouveau, but this time little patterns. Each pattern includes a description of the fabric and yarn I used, but they are nice pattern to use leftovers of fabric and yarn.
The pattern does not include instructions on how to assemble the examples.
They are only examples and there are a lot more possibility’s.
Use your imagination and have fun.

Finely there is the new patter 24 June 2011
After the holiday there are always lots of things to do.
But everything is turned to normal now.
This is the first pattern I did not embroider myself.
My sister started the yellow version and I am very curious.
It is inspired on the patterns of in and out of love.
It contains 4 color suggestions but of course you can alter them yourself.
The fabric is also yours to choice, and if your table has an other size the pattern can easily be enlarged in one or both directions.
Happy stitching,
Nolda van Hezewijk

Holiday 20 May 2011
I am happy to tell you that in spite off al the busy appointments, we found time for a holiday whit our boat.
We remain in the north of the Netherlands and if the weather is bad for sailing it is great for embroidering.
We return the 15e of June and at that time there will be a new pattern on the site.
See you after the holiday

Gazelles 28 December 2010
This time around not another triptych but one pattern in two versions. The first I made with Au ver á soie and Gloriana, the second with DMC and Madeira Metallic.
I placed the result into the lid of a box as shown in the image, but of course there are lots of other possibilities and colour combinations. If you create something it would be nice if you send me a picture, so I can put it on the site.
Happy stitching!

Iris B 21 September 2010
Number two of the triptych is slightly narrower, but will fit in nicely when number three is finished. It is made with the same color and yarn type as Iris A. Of course each could easily take a fine solitary spot on the wall.
Have fun and keep embroidering!

A new triptych 18 July 2010
The first part of the next trilogy is finished. The art nouveau patterns are again based on work by Albert Smith. This time I chose Madeira Rayon thread, giving the work a lot of gloss. The patterns also include a conversion list for DMC colors, I'm hoping these will please a lot of people.
Kind regards,
Nolda
